Dr. Daniel Hynan, PH.D.
Dr. Hynan has also served on the Oversight Committee for the Mediation and Evaluation Program in DuPage County. In that role, he has advised the judiciary regarding establishing and maintaining the program. He was also the Liaison from the Illinois Psychological Association to insure that professionally competent and ethical practices were adopted in the program. Since that program was established, his role has included making educational presentations on family and custody matters to mental health and legal professionals, as well as reviewing the work of other evaluators. Previously, Dr. Hynan served on the DuPage County Conciliation Program Advisory Board.
In addition, Dr. Hynan has been dedicated to improving the integrity and effectiveness of forensic psychological evaluations. He has written articles on interviewing children, observing parent-child interactions, mediation and custody evaluation. They have appeared in journals such as Family and Conciliation Courts Review, Forensic Examiner, and Illinois State Bar Association Family Law.
Dr. Hynan received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1982, and has taught at the university level. In addition to the work described above, he has created and directed inpatient, partial hospital and outpatient treatment programs for individuals with mental health and substance abuse problems. He continues to provide individual and family psychotherapy, and is a provider for many managed care organizations. His clinically oriented research can be found in publications such as the Journal of Clinical Psychology and the Journal of Research in Personality. Volunteer work has included being on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of DuPage County. His two office locations are convenient for many in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
